This last couple of days of swell has been really giving Huntington Beach some large waves. I have taken to surfing a few towers south of the pier due to the building popularity of Goldenwest St to Huntington Beach Cliffs. The wind and rain has taken away from this swells availability though. Looks like there will still be another week of swell which is good.

No video because my first wave I got pounded and the camera was ripped off the deck. It was a little too big for my 7'6" anyway, but it jacked up an additional three feet after I had paddled out. At least I now know the approximate limits to the camera mounts - I wish the rails of the camera mount had not snapped; removing the mounts themselves is like trying to remove a car tire with a plastic spoon!

Cold and rainy today at Huntington Beach Cliffs...some head high peaks snuck through the lulls of nothing. Definately missed out on getting one of the deepest barrels I've ever ridden on my 7'6" on the clip due to inadaquate button pushing. On the first clip you can see some grom who tried to pop and drop me - too bad he was not in position, it was a fun wave!

Today the surf had fantastic shape and there was a little offshore wind. The waves were giving a little lip, unfortunately the waves that had the deepest barrels I was untimely duck diving instead of riding. After being out of a regular schedule of surfing my go to board is now my 7'6" rather than my stack of 6 footers (don't have the strength right now) but I am finding that this board in particular (Vaqueros shaped by Marc Andreini - a Santa Barbara grass roots low volume production) is super high performance for its size. I still remember buying the board...its a wall hangar for sure, its gorgeous; has a nice burnt orange airbrush.

This weekend from Friday through Sunday was pretty large...surf report was claiming 8'-11' for Saturday. Sometimes they are wrong so I paid a visit on the 7th (Saturday). It was foggy and the current dragged me close to 2 miles - paddled out at Huntington Beach and came in at Newport Beach. On the 8th; Sunday was more fun but really odd shaped waves, strong offshores that were starting to shifting more to the north. Most of the shots were taken at Goldenwest in Huntington Beach.

Surf report claimed a modest 3-4 but it was one of those days where the waves vanished when I go there and when I was ready to leave they kicked up again. Still, it was nice and sunny and probably 8 or so dolphins out doing incredible breaches...I think the second clip shows 4 or 5 behind me.
